Juvenile Dipper
A juvenile Dipper on the River Tavy, waiting for a parent to feed it. I was able to get very close without disturbing it and stayed motionless allowing me to use a low shutter speed and ISO.
Dipper (juvenile)
The only half decent shot of one the newly fledged Dippers on my local Brook last year. Hopefully if they nest again this year I’ll get some better shots.
Dipper
I had the pleasure of watching and photographing a pair of nesting Dippers in my village this year. This is the male coming in with food, he landed literally a couple of metres in front of me and posed for this shot.
DIpper
I’ve taken lots of shots of the Dippers recently on my local Brook but this is one of my favourites.
Dipping Dipper
I had a second encounter with the Dipper on my local Brook this week and attempted some action shots, this one taken as the bird was demonstrating their classic dipping action.
Dipper
Looking back at last year’s project with the Dippers on my local Brook. I hope they nest in the same place again this year despite a house being built next to the bridge.
Dipper
A second shot of the Dipper on my local Brook, so many shots to choose from but I like the backdrop of the waterfall in this one.
Dipper
I’ve dipped out on the Cuckoos so far this year but I have found this Dipper which must have a nest nearby as it’s clearly collecting insects. I will be able to watch these closely as they’re local to me.
Dipper
A third shot of the Dipper on my local Brook, still hoping to see the youngsters.
Best viewed full screen to see the detail.
Dipper (Explored 18 November 2016)
Another shot of a Dipper on my local river in nice warm morning light
Dipper reflected
Another shot from my local river whilst waiting for the Heron. Some nice Autumn tones reflected in the water, along with the Dipper!!

Dipper
Following my Explored Grey Wagtail yesterday, thanks to all for faving and commenting and to those who followed me, here is the real reason for being under Abbey Bridge.
A pair of Dippers are nesting in the wall by Abbey Bridge in Tavistock. I spent a good hour watching and photographing them as they flew in and out of the nest with food for their young.
