A male Stonechat out on the Moors this week.
Redstart (male)
I’ve spent some time this week observing and photographing 2 male and 1 female Redstart on my local patch, this shot of one of the males is the best I’ve managed so far. Hoping to get more opportunites with them over the coming weeks.
Common Redstart ♂️
I was looking forward to catching up with the Redstarts again this year but not looking good at the moment so here’s a shot from last season on my local patch on Dartmoor.
Common Redstart ♂️
One of my favourite summer visitors, this guy graced me with his presence last year along with another male and a single female. I wasn’t able to find a nest site, I’m hoping for more luck this season.
Stonechat (female)
A second shot of one of the female Stonechats on my local patch from the beginning of April.
Stonechat (female)
At least two pairs of Stonechats on my local patch this week, hoping to see some offspring over the next few weeks.

One of two male Wheatears arrived on my patch this week along with one female.

Another shot from the 2019 archives, a male Wheatear on my local patch on Dartmoor, Devon
Common Redstart ♂️
A solitary male Redstart has returned to the same location as last year on the Moors. Hoping that a female joins him and they nest again.
Redstart ♀️ (Explored 8 June 2017)
A shot of the female Redstart a day after the young fledged. She was flitting between the hedgerows feeding the fledglings so I managed to hide close to a wall and get this frame filler!
Redstart ♂️ (Explored 24 September 2017)
A shot from back in May of the male Redstart I was watching up on the Moors.
Redstart ♂️
The male Redstart perched on a frond of Bracken . The young have now fledged, hoping to get some shots of them being fed out of the nest!

The male Redstart flying in with food to the nest, won’t be too long before they fledge now!!
Redstart ♂️
I discovered a Redstart nesting site this week, in a telegraph pole of all places. I’ll be monitoring this over the coming days and hopefully see them fledge!!
Redstart (m)
I found a second pair of Redstarts on my local patch last week whilst out Cuckoo hunting. This male perched up in clear view hunting insects!
Redstart ♀️
The other half of the pair of Redstarts that I found last week.
Redstart (m)
After a couple of weeks of observing and some degree of patience I managed to get some shots of the beautiful male Redstart on the Moors. Cuckoos are my next target.
Cuckoo
A great day today out on my local patch, a total of three Cuckoos flying around, being chased by Meadow Pipits and occasionally landing close enough for a photo opportunity. I believe this is a female, please correct me if I’m wrong. I also apologise for posting more shots over the next day or two, just a little bit excited!!
Cuckoo in flight
Following yesterday’s first post of a Cuckoo on my local patch here’s one of many in-flight shots I got, again I think this is the female.
Cuckoo in flight 2
OK so it’s another shot of a Cuckoo but hey how often do you get to photograph them at close quarters!?
Cuckoo in flight 3
Another shot of one of the Cuckoos seen up on the Moors last week. Went out looking for them again but no sign of them this time.
Wheatear (male)
I finally managed to get out with my camera and shoot some wildlife this week. This male Wheatear popped up on top of a wall in front of me, just as it started to hail.
