Greenfinch
A very handsome male Greenfinch from my garden back in December
Treecreeper
One of my resident Treecreepers in my garden in fading light.
Wishing all my Flickr friends a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
Coal Tit
Another welcome visitor to my garden during lockdown. I hadn’t seen much of them recently, hopefully raising a brood somewhere nearby.
Wren
A regular visitor to my garden over the past couple of weeks, hopefully get some youngsters to photograph in the coming weeks.
Robin
Having built myself a feeding table for the garden I’m quite pleased with the results so far. First up the obligatory Robin.
Greenfinch ♂️
A rather handsome cock Greenfinch from my garden vigil this week. I’ve built a new bird table to get some different shots other than bird-on-a-stick so watch this space.
Chaffinch ♀️ (Explored 1 April 2020)
Here’s a female Chaffy to go with the male I posted previously. Lots of Finches in my garden at present.
Chaffinch ♂️
Lots of Finches around the garden this week including this handsome cock Chaffy. More shots to come soon.
Great Tit
I spent some time in my garden hide in between homeschooling this week and was rewarded with this handsome Great Tit. More shots to come over the following days and weeks.
Goldfinch
I’m finally back in the saddle after a long break from using my camera so I thought I’d get some practice in with the garden birds before the Moorland birds return
Common Eider (Drake)
My first outing with my camera in 2020 took me to Hannafore Beach, Looe in search of Slavonian Grebe and Eider. No sign of the Grebe but did find two Drakes and a female Eider just offshore. A large crop on this shot but a first for me.
Chaffinch ♂️ (Explored 20 Dec 2019)
Watch out for this on the RSPB Instagram feed.
Happy Christmas to all my followers.
Long-tailed Tit
Long time, no post, here’s a Long-tailed Tit from my garden recently.
Goldcrest
I’m lucky to have these lovely little birds frequenting my garden (this one back in November). There were at least 4 flitting around yesterday but couldn’t get my camera in time.
Great Spotted Woodpecker
One of 3 juvenile GSWs from my garden this summer, great to see them doing well
Jay
A bird I see regularly in my garden but had failed to get a decent shot of until last year.

Meadow Pipit
A first outing out on the Moors with my newly acquired 500mm f4 lens this Meadow Pipit popped up in front of me and posed nicely.
Have a great weekend.
Greenfinch ♂️
Another shot from my archives, a garden visitor that’s always welcome after their problems with Trichomonosis.
Treecreeper
If you’ve been watching Winterwatch this week then this little bird will be familiar to you. This shot was taken exactly one year ago in my garden, the first time I’ve seen one in the open and it was only a fleeting moment.
Nuthatch
One of my resident Nuthatches from last week
Bullfinch (male)
Apologies for my recent absence, I’ve had very little time with my camera recently. Here’s one of my resident male Bullfinches in my garden back in July.
Goldfinch (juv)
Staying with the theme of juvenile birds, here’s a delightful Goldfinch not long fledged and still being fed by it’s parents (missed the shot of that unfortunately)
Redstart ♀️ (Explored 8 June 2017)
A shot of the female Redstart a day after the young fledged. She was flitting between the hedgerows feeding the fledglings so I managed to hide close to a wall and get this frame filler!
Goldfinch
A single Goldie has finally decided to visit my garden feeders and posed nicely for me.
Hopefully he becomes a regular so I can attempt some flight shots!
Kestrel (Explored 8 November 2016)
Taken at the same location and time as the Goldfinch flock, some lovely evening light making it’s wings glow. Hoped to get a little closer but spooked the Goldfinches in the attempt!!
Field of Gold
One of a flock of around 60 Goldfinches, as the sun goes down, from my recent visit to Lincolnshire
A Charm of Goldfinches
A small part of the flock of Goldfinches, I counted 60 in total, from my visit to Lincolnshire.
Having researched collective nouns for birds, Finches in general have several names but the preferred name for Goldfinches is a Charm, quite like that!!
Have a look at British Bird Lovers (bit.ly/2fOnAjx) for a full list, makes an interesting read!!
A full Charm of Goldfinches
Following yesterday’s post, this is the whole flock (almost), or charm, of Goldfinches seen on my recent trip to Lincolnshre, 50 birds in this shot if you count them, there were 60 altogether!!

Same branch different bird!!!
Long-tailed Tit on Corkscrew Hazel
My first post with my new Canon 7D Mark II and 100-400mm IS Mark II, loving the speed and sharpness of the camera/lens combo and the high ISO performance is impressive (this was shot at ISO 5000!!!)

Treecreeper
I spotted a pair of Treecreepers in the White Moss Woods by Rydal on my last visit to the Lakes. I watched for a little while and saw they were feeding young in a nest in the tree stump. This was the best shot I managed, given the low light and the lack of time.
I like peanuts
A nuthatch feeding on the tree stump in my garden. I finally managed to get close enough to get a few detailed shots, this being the best of them. Apologies if I post more but this is my favourite bird.

Robin
The Robin is a territorial bird that can become quite aggressive towards it’s kind. I quite often get 3 or 4 together near my feeders and hope to catpture them fighting one day. This one was just standing on a pot looking at me.
Great Tit
Great Tit sitting in my tree from last week’s shoot.
Blackbird
My resident Blackbird came to see me the other day whilst I was photographing the Goldfinches.

Blue Tit
One last bird shot from last week in my garden, a Blue Tit sitting in my tree. Feels like so long ago now we’re snow bound again, when will Spring start for real?
Blue Tit
A closeup of one of the Blue Tits in the tree waiting for the feeders to come free.

Another close encounter in my garden over the weekend. Couldn’t get a full body shot but got close enough for this.
Peek a Boo
A Robin in my garden yesterday. I managed to get quite close to my feeding station and captured this little chap.
